I've got an extra Ford 9" and I've been toying with the idea of using it to replace the front Dana 44 in my Jeepster. What are my options for knuckles? Keep in mind that a 9" has 3 inch diameter tubes.
well either a dana 44 or 60 . The reason Id go with a 60 is the ability to still retain 35 spline shaft thru out with a detroit in the 9". Unless you do the work yourself (thats what I'm assuming) your going to spend almost as much as buying a used 60 front and narrowing to the length you need .The ground clearance issue could be addressed easily
I wanted to do the same thing. I have the 60 front but wanted to use a high clearance currie center section with a 35 spline Detroit. Should be killer on ground clearance and strenght. Then I shave the rear 14 bolt and I'm done. The currie center section that is clearanced is around $250
