Hey,
My gas tank is startin to rot out , and i bought a 20 gal jegz fuel cell. Anybody got any sugesstions for a fuel pump ??
I know its got to be high psi cuz of the EFI, But there are so many. Just thought ide ask the masters.
You do not say what year it is, but I will assume it is EFI. You will need three lines going to the cell, pickup line, return line, and vent line going to the charcoal canister!!!!!
Here is mine, I used the stock pickup and pump , just had to shorten it up a bit so it would sit in the very bottom of the sump. I cut and flaired the hp tube and used 2 clamps. So far it has worked great ( 6+mo.) even on it's side a few times The cell is a Summit Racing 10 gal. cell.
Yea Its EFI, and i thought that the pump had to be outside the tank, cuz theres foam inside ?? Mabe im wrong, but if i can get away w/ usin the stock pump, thats less money i gotta spend.
You can take the foam out or leave it in. I took it out when I drilled the hole for the stock pump and pickup. Then I vacumed out the metal from drilling and reinstalled the foam. You will have to shorten the mount for the pump. I put it were the pump sits in the lowest part of the sump.
I had the foam in for a long time on a 16 gallon jaz and then decided to take it out. They say you need to always keep the foam covered with gas or it will dry out and degrade? I don't know. I just went and used an inline fuel pump and mounted it to the inside of the frame rail. I don't know what kind it was, just some generic one. From what I've seen, the autozone one is really loud. Some people use a bosch inline pump as well. You can find them for about $20 on ebay. Good luck.
The e2000 Ford pump is a lot easier to hook up than the Celica pump because it has barb fittings vs. the funky metric fittings. I know, I have both. I bought the Celica pump first and then decided to go with the Ford pump. I've been running it all year and it works awesome. I have not noticed it to be loud at all.
I use a Napa P.N. P5000 EFI fuel pump for an external pump with my fuel cell. It comes with rubber insulated mounts, slick electrical connector and fittings. It can also be adapted to AN hoses with the right adapter fittings. The inlet fitting that comes with it accepts 3/8" hose, while the outlet fitting is for 3/8" hardline SAE flare.
