I have been looking into building a full hydro system for my 4runner. I was wondering if there was a "real" quality and reliability difference between the different brand of DE hydro cylinders, i.e.; TG, PSC, Surplus Center, used POS, and used Rockstomper? Are there any other companies that sell good DE cylinders that don't cost a shit load of cash? I am kind of leaning towards the TG ram because it comes with the clevises and would be the same price as the surplus center 2.5x8x1.25 ram after buying a set of clevis ends.

I don't want to buy a full hydro kit, so save your fingers the work.:flipoff2:


Also, has anyone ever used or heard of these guys for a steering valve kit? https://www.midweststeering.com/inde...parent=70&pg=1 I couldn't find much with google or here.
The are selling Global Steer steering valves for a very nice price. European made and direct replacement for Eaton/Char-Lynn applications.

I have not heard of midwest steering but can tell you the TG rams and orbital are worth the money. Used to work in a 4x4 shop and have done several hydro steer setups. Have mixed and matched diff parts to save money and in the end its best to get the parts that are designed to work together.

30 seconds of middle school math and you can "design" or "match" an orbital and ram...



I like the TG rams.

The surplus center rams work fine too, but since the mounting tabs are welded to the body, you have to build your mount to accommodate that.

I graduated High School, I'm sure I can handle that. I can see how the surplus center ram would make mounting a little more tedious, but that seems pretty minor.

I'm glad to hear people liking the TG rams, I was a little concerned because there have been many people complaining about their HA rams leaking. I can get a pretty good deal locally on TG parts, so that helps with keeping costs down.

Anyone have experience with the Global Steer valves?

Not sure if this is relevant anymore... I was searching for orbital valve tech.

I bought an orbital from midwest steering, but have not used it yet, (in the process of choosing a safe spot on my buggy to mount the thing) but it looks quality. Also check into extreme hydraulics. It was the lowest priced ram I could find at the time and the mounting points are thread on type for interchangeability. :homer:
