Just looked when I was getting gas this morning (3/20/03)

87 octane gas - $1.59
diesel - $1.71

Normally they are about the same, even this is a good bit higher than normal...

Gas and diesel seem to be around high $1.60s to $1.75. The place I buy diesel has been $1.55 for the last month, my only guess is that they're trying to run the place next door out of business, it was bought by Shell a few months ago, and the prices have been 10 cents lower min on diesel than the other place ever since (other one used to often be a few cents cheaper or same).

Regardless of the price, I'm still glad I got a diesel. Nothing tows as well or as easy as an diesel. Even with the higher price of diesel, I can still tow for less $$$ than a gasser.

You got that right. I wouldn't want to see what kind of mileage I'd get out of a 15 liter gas engine. But the HP of such an engine would be nice.

A IH RD501 gets 1.1 gallons per mile in a 60,000lbs R-liner.
15 liters is ~1000 cubes, right?
So, probably 2 gallons a mile.
