You guys have NO IDEA how pissed off I am right now . I was going to head down to Moab tomorrow morning and in preparation have been wrenching my ass off to get my truck ready, took 2 days off work, and dropped alot of $$ on my highsteer and other stuff to get ready for this weekend...... and now I doubt I am going, since my 22R just shot a combination of oil and gas thru the valvecover. There is TONS on gas in the oilpan. What a dissapointment Anyone ever heard of this happening before? I should go look at it, but I am just too pissed at the moment to think about touching it. I wonder if its the fuel pump somehow leaking into the crankcase???? Any ideas? Quick fix, or NOT? Probably not, with my luck.

Yeah, its gas alright. I'm surprised it didn't catch on fire with as much as there was. As far as how it happened, who knows. I haven't pulled it apart yet, still to pissed to care. Thanks for the offer though. I'll probably be putting a fuel pump on tomorrow morning and see if I can make it work. Damn thing......

Yup, change the oil, install a new fuel pump. I just replaced the pump on my 22R, it took about 15 minutes--most of that was just dealing with the hose clamps on the lines. Easy fix, hopefully the gas hasn't been leaking into the oil for too long, starving the engine for lube.

The only other path for gas to the crankcase is past the rings, and this sounds like it happened while it was not running....Has to be the fuel pump, happens on chevys too. Just a ruptured diaphragm. This shouldn't keep you from the trip!
