Just curious if any one knows the gas milage
on the newer vortec big blocks with the
alison trany

My grandpa got a 2500 with the 8.1 and the Allison. I think he said he got 14-16 consistantly, but I can't remember for sure.

I also was told 16 mpg seems pritty good
for a 8.1 with auto trany.

I just wanted some real world numbers

When I went to Attica at Thanksgiving with a couple of buddies one of them had a 02 k3500 dually 8.1 with an allison trans he was towing a 24 foot gooseneck with 2 jeeps on it he got 9 miles to the gallon towing. I have a 99 powerstroke with an auto tranny and I was also pulling a 24 ft gooseneck with 2 jeeps on it and I only got 10 miles to the gallon. That engine and tranny combo is the shit.
