gas mileage is a function of manifold vacuum.

RPM doesn't really matter worth a shit, if you really care about mileage, install a vacuum gauge and drive to keep it as high as possible (more vacuum)

before I cut the fawk out of my XJ and still drove it on the road, I was able to get damn near 30mpg highway w/ a 4.0L by driving according to the vacuum gauge

I've always found my best gas milage to be at the RPM where my motor gets its peak torque. Get the specs on your cam, or if it is a factory setup, the original motor info and go from there. I was able to get about 22MPG out of a mildly built 304 in an early CJ5 this way. Planned the gearing on my CJ6 project close to the same for this reason. Added a 4:1 kit for the trail.

my apologies. this started out in General.

i now realize my post was only lightly misted with sarcasm, and not dripping with it. in the future, i will turn the sarcasm nozzle from "spray" to "stream". :rolleyes: :D

they dont work.
