Hello everyone, i am building a off-road rally car for use in Europe.
and got some questions about gearbox options and what your thoughts on them are.

i will start with what i got to work with.
Chassis: Range rover classic 108" to 112" (not sure yet:D).
Body: Tornado Motorsports Comp safari spec Tornado Evo 3
Axles: Nissan patrol Y61 Ratio: 4.625:1
Engine: Cadillac escalade LQ9
T case:got a NP205 and 208 here but depends on the gearabox.

i want a automatic gearbox.
now what gearbox do you guys recommend? i would like to stay with chevy parts but open for options.

Why not stick with the 4L70E that came behind the LQ9 in the Escalade?

Other options are 6L80E if you can find someone to program it behind the LQ9.

4l70e's never came behind LQ9's, or in Escalades. Was before it's time... You are thinking 4l65e's.
Well I just bought the engine not a whole car.

And how strong and reliable are the 6l80e's?
Very and very

You would have to use a standalone setup from someone like TCI or etc. Or, convert the electronics over to GEN4. Honestly not worth the hassle... 4l65e or better yet 4l70e is a good choice. Even though the 4l70e is a gen 4 trans, it would still work (with tuning) behind a LQ9. ...Depending on your year of LQ9. 4l70e would have the input speed sensor.

Turbo 400. Cheap, reliable, simple, and just as fast with the right gears.
This if you dont need over drive
Or a 4L80e,parts should be easier over seas since they also came in Jags,Bentleys,Rolls Royces and Austin Martins
