Why the hell wont they come out??? I got the RE lower arms and the bushings crapped out in less than 1 summer. So, I thought, no problemo, I will replace them with the stock bushings. Stock bushings came out fine. However, the RE ones.... Well, I have cut off the little metal lip, soaked them in PB Blaster, pounded, put them in a vise, torched them, and the mother bitches wont come out. HELP!!!

There is no bushing that a 100 ton press can't handle. Put that sucker under load and it will just <IMG SRC="smilies/puke.gif" border="0"> right out.

Im trying to avoid paying a shop to do it, and I dont know anyone with a press.

Knock the rubber and inner sleeve out with a hammer. Take a hacksaw blade and carefully cut through the metal barrel portion of the bushing then just pry it out.

When putting the new ones in, go find a press. Only takes a second to press them in, they will not hammer in very well.

I actually used a sawsall in the above mentiond hacksaw method. All of my custom fabbing for my long arm, all the time and it was those fawkin bushings that were the hardest. The gratification of the sawsall cannot be described in words.

Not Exactly sure how the TJ Long Arm bushings are but i had a Bitch of a time trying to get my spring bushings out.

I ended up using a 7/16 sockets (same diameter as the metal sleeve) and just bashing it through with that (same method as if doing u joints)

Once the sleeves were out the bushing came out easy!

For the love of GOD!!! what the hell do they put them in there like that for??? A friggen Jeep ways less than 2 tons, a tank doesn't even way 40 tons!!! ASSHOLES!!! So, how long do you think the stock bushings will last? Is there a better alternative?

Boy. Whiny aren't we?

RE uses the same type of bushing thats in your stock arms. They're a piece of cake to service. Whip out your propane torch and light that fucker on fire. when the rubber has been burning a couple of minutes, whack it with a hammer and out it pops. Then take an air chisel and work on that race. You'll be done in 15 minutes.

Gonna need a big press for the new one though. <IMG SRC="smilies/thefinger.gif" border="0">

Your telling me you never cuss and bitch when you wrench??? OK..... Bullshit they're the same!

In diameter only. The rubber in the RE was way softer and flimsy as hell. The stock ones had 32k on them when I put on the lift, and the RE ones didn't even last a whole summer. I dont know what the actual name for the material is, but the stock ones are definetly stiffer bushings than the RE ones.

I burned mine and caught a wicked buzz off the rubber burning, still didn't come out. Sawsall, baby, sawsall. Cut the sleeve on the top and the bottom or side and they'll just fall out. Getting the new ones it was a piece of cake. Put some antisieze or at least some grease on them.

RE gave me a couple of CA bushings and they matched identically to ones on my D30. the bushings that are pressed into the ends should connect to the unibody mounts. My XDuty arms had the ears end connect to the D30

For a while RE tried out a different type of bushing that flexed well but didn't last very long. They are back to using the OEM bushing.

I used the sawsall method. Cut all the rubber out, then cut into the race (be gentle now) then that fawker will slide right out with your fingers. <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

WOOWHOO!!! my alltime favorite proceedure, removal of bushings with FIRE!!! if you put the roofing torch to it, it'll pop out in a matter of minutes. Just make sure that nobody or any flammables is standing to the side 'cause that bushing will SHOOT out. Just put the flame to it 'till it pops out. simple.

I have had luck with fire first, then running the center sleeve out with an air chisle, the catching the outer sleeve with the chisle too. Dont use a wussy air chisle though.....

learned this by accident

I took one of my larger dull drill bits and drilled down the side of the bushing, then let the bit "walk" around the diameter of the bushing which in turn walked the bushing out of the race.

Cheap fawking bastards. Go to HF and buy a 20 ton press, you will use it for so much shit, you won't be able to understand how you ever lived without it. They are less than $150 when they are on sale.

You'll need to give it a little lift though, they're not designed for use by a North American male. :flipoff2:
