I picked up an Aluminum hard top last year for my CJ2A for $75 (With doors :flipoff2: ) . Now that I am nearing completion on my '46 I want to start setting priorities for the hard top. What I really need info on is insulation. There currently is none inside the top. I was thinking about using the expanding spray in stuff and then shaving it down but someone told me that it doesn't shave that well. Another suggestion made was rubberized paint, but that doesn't do much for heat retention...I don't want to devalue the top either. These tops are hard to find.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I would think that any foam rubber would work as insulation, i.e even that egg crate mattress liner.

You can get foam rubber in any thickness and it can be glued to the metal panels using fabric ahesive or an auto ahesive.

The second thing you need to do is stop any air leaks.

Luck,

The bubble wrap stuff would be good. Dont use anything that will retain moisture.
