I have a 1987 toyota pickup and yesterday I turned the headlights on, they worked for a second and then shut off. As soon as they shut off the headlight relay in the engine compartment started making this strange whinning noise. Anyone ever have this problem? If so any help we be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, the truck has been sitting for several months.

Could be a bad ground circut. check the body ground on the right inner fender too. Or just a bad relay.

I would definitely start by replacing the relay....They can make strange noises when the contacts are burned or the coil is toast... <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I figured out the problem. One of the leads going into the fusebox was loose causing a [email protected]#load of resistence. My buddy actually had the imprint of an 8mm bolt burnt into his hand. I hate those damn electrical gremlins.

Thanks for the help guys.
