We purchased a motor from Toyautomart on 6-9-01. Came with a 100 day warranty. On August 28th we were driving to Reno and the motor blew. The oil was fine, drove fine until all of a sudden there was knocking. We pulled over at Boreal, and motor seized after wards. Checked oil, it was full. Something either broke and clogged the screen, or the oil pump went out. Toyautomart is saying they will not cover the warranty because when they pulled it apart it appeared to be underlubricated, they say regardless of the cause. When we purchased the motor they said it would be covered unless we overheated it. The only way this motor could have been underlubricated is if something else failed. We have already paid out 450.00 to be towed back to Sacramento, then 130.00 to tow the vehicle to them to look at it. Now will have to tow the vehicle back home. Does anyone know of a reputable shop where we can take this to have them determine what the exact cause of underlubrication was? Does anyone know of an attorney we can contact also? I need help A.S.A.P.

I would go the attorney route first!

A well written letter with weight by a good attorney may get you one step further, ussually it'll cost 50 - 75 bucks for a letter, and work somthing out with him in case you need to pursue!

State that you are in right to the warranty coverage and age giving one more chance for them to settle it before anymore costs are incurred. Also state the cost of having another shop inspect/rebuild it an claim that if the matter is not settled you will go after this cost as well!

Good luck, hopfully they'll get a letter and then change ther're mind!

Good luck, I have had a couple friends who have tried and lost even with a lawer. But I guess it is worth try.

Another suggestion, get your self a Triple A towing card. The one I have will tow up to 100 miles before they start charging me.

Ha, the easiest trick in the book, those jerks!!!!!
We have had the same PROBLEM used before with other engine manufactures..
Its a slick way for them to get out of doing the right thing....
And its one that has so many zig zags, even with a good lawer, its a loosing battle..
You know and i know what happened(not your fault) but that statement is a POS!!

I've heard both good and bad things about The Toy Shop in shingle springs.
They might be a place to have look at it, they should at least know Toyotas.
