I would recommend to stay away from the currie HP 9". its a 8.8 ring gear in a 9" case. they only rate it up to 400 Horse. That means it was designed for the 4 cylinder jeep engine stuff. The flipping of the 9" is not a good idea for the rear axle. You would be running on the back side of the gear.... What we need is some to offer reverse cut gears for the 9" then we can flip it... But until then use a HP 44 or if you have the money the Tera 60

Just my 2 cents

258 MPI, 999, D300 w/4.1, 4.88's and 38's would give me a crawl ratio of around 55-1. what everyone think of that combo?

edit only reason for the 9"s are because i already have them. have to keep them for at least a year or two. i may just end up going with the reg low pin version.

Flipping a 9" is not a good idea unless you want to go really fast in reverse. Reverse cut gears won't make it spin the right direction either.

your right mudtruck... I was thinking incorrectly... i had this discussion with Currie the other day and they told me I couldn't flip the housing maybe it was the lubrication issue... anyone have further insight..

I'll disagree with you. You can run a HP9 with a 6 cylinder if you stay with a 35" or smaller tire.

has anyone given any thought to building a new case that will move the pinion up in the case? I have gained some access to one of the local machine shops after hours. I have thought about this the last couple of days.
