I run a 650dp on my 350, ok until I climb or descend a steep angle and then she floods.
I know this is tipical of Holley's but does anyone have a simple fix other than fitting a Rochester or Carter carby??

Classic Holley....only fix is a baseball bat and a Quadrajet carb. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Been there, done that....

run a piece of fule line between the vents and cut a small notch in the very top. Better yet dump that POS and get a Q jet.

This is the best fix I could come up with for the last Holley i had:

1) Carefully remove the carburator

2) Pitch into bushes

3) Throw rocks after it

4) Buy Weber w/2lb elect fuel pump

You can put vent baffles in it, or the hose trick as mentioned above, but your still going to have the same problem. Save yourself the frustration and headaches and get a better carb. Holleys and Edelbrocks are for strret use only, no off angled driving. The best off road carb, my opinion, is the rochester.

I tried a 600,650,750,780,850, Did all the trick shit to them & while they ran like a rapped ape off the line & at high RPM, never could get rid of the flooding & stalling. Throw it in the trash & either go quadrajet or Fuel Infection. Oh, Carters & Edelbrocks suck also. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I will sell it soon and buy a Rochester/Quadrajet wich s/hand is cheper than the Holley. <IMG SRC="smilies/bounce2.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bounce.gif" border="0"> Make money aswell!!

I do remember reading about inserts that you put in the fuel bowl of a Holley carb to prevent the sloshing around that stalls holleys on a hill. They looked like black sponge inserts cut to fit the bowl. Anyways if you are interested I'll see if I can dig out the manufacturer number.

I have been running a 390CFM Holley on my V6 for about 9 years without a problem. I am not sure how it would do if I stood the jeep on end like Lance did, but normally I have had no problems. Side hills, pointed up or down, it just keeps plunking along. My son has also started running this same carb with terrible results. His floods out all of the time. I am beginning to believe that Holley changed something between when I bought mine and my son acquired his. Mine was purchased about 15 years ago, his about 5 years ago.
