home made belt grinder/notcher

been making this belt grinder now.
im gointo make tube notching attachment to it too.

it has 150x2000 (6"x78")belt and it driven dirrect from 3kw motor

drive roll is 10" dia

front rollers are changeable for tube sizes.

it has top sanding place too

it has adjustable spring tension system

today got it running first time.

I don't have the patience to design & build something like that....but you probably don't have the deals on used tools we do here being in Finland.

awesome build up though, and looks super useful.
3kw motor
WOW :eek: isn't that almost 5hp

That thing can handle some steel i'd imagine :D

How are you handling the belt tracking? Do you have some adjustment to center the belt or did you crown a roller?
yes crowned rollers and there is adjustment in link bars.
link bar has left/right hand threads.

Thanks, I can't wait to see what you add for the notching. I have wanted to build one of these for a while. Just haven't gotten around to it. To many other projects I guess.

today i got feed table mounted to the grinder.
it has adjusting for height and it swings away from the head if i do normal grinding.

still need to make feed lever and some small stuff to it and buy some coarse grit belts.

This project keeps getting more awesomeness piled on :laughing:


Great work!

Any concern or plan to make the base wider for stability when clamping larger/heavier pieces :confused:
