So I'm surfing the net and find an old article from 4WOR. Homemade full float axle. The guy took a 12 bolt housing and added 14 bolt tubes for a full floater. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Sounds interesting.
Still have to cut them to length and re-spline them to mate with the 12 bolt side gears.
I see the point, but I don't. How much ground clearance do you really gain? And if you compare it to a Dana 60 rear or 9.5" 14 bolt SF (12 bolt center is certainly not any stronger) then the ground clearance gain gets even smaller.
My vote is for the 60 or 14 SF rear and spending the money on the front end to match the rear beef
