I gotta get a new bumper, I've pretzeled the stock one real good ( and core support, and hood) from hitting a moose and using it as an icebreaker :D

Money's tight. Shittybilts are $300 + shipping. Nothing else with a grilleguard is even close in price.

I'd probably have to reinforce it when I put a winch on it, but other than that are they ok? Is the tubing thick enough to take some hits?

Any good non-custom sources for bumpers other than Shittybilt, TJM, ARB, AllPro?

I'd build my own but I want it to look good, and I don't have my own shop so I'd have to pay for shop time and it'd be hard to make something that looked good with limited time.

I had one on my Toy when I bought the truck. I thought it was a POS. It dented real easy, you could almost dent it by kicking it. It's made of real thin wall tubing and IMHO is more for looks than function. For $300 I'm sure a shop in your area can order one from AP etc.

They aren't bad. I had them front and rear on my junk when I bought it. They are a lot more durable than people think. Any of the hits that I put on mine which dented them would have dented the .120 DOM bumpers that I have now. Personally I hate the way they look which is why I replaced mine but they are an OK bumper.

I had one. They are OK, but I wouldn't buy another one. I think they dent easily and you have to reinforce the winch mount. My winch pulled the bumper out a few inches from use. People couldn't really tell, but I could and it bothered me for some reason. I just think as bulky as they are they should be a little bit more stout.

Shittybilts are not bad, but I did replace them w/ AP bumpers. More so because I didn't like the way they looked and not to mention alot of pavement pounders sport them. GET THE CHROME! IF you like them try to buy them used. I sold mine for $75.00 (F&R). They are not worth $300.00 a bumper! IMO.

I have a smittybuilt winch bumper on my 92 because I needed a winch and I was able to bet the bumper for around $275.
I have never had a problem with it, and never had to re-enforce the winch plate either.
I put mine up against trees and rocks all the time and it has yet to dent or bend.

If you can deal with the minor dings and dents it will get, then go for it. I had one on a full size bronco a while back. Wasn't the greatest thing in the world but it was free, and held up decently. However, I've seen people hit deer around here with that style bumper. and it crumpled!

Did it crumple enough to damage the vehicle?

The bumper itself is decent. It is .095" wall 3" tube. It will dent if hit hard, but the bumper will hold its shape.

The mount for the front bumpers sucks though, so I built my own mount.

The mount for the "nerf bars" is even worse.

Would I buy another one? No, not unless it was really cheap.

I already had this one, so I modified it to suit my needs.

I would not run their crappy ass nerf bars. The front bumper are not that bad. I would renforce the bumper to the frame with big thick metal plates. That will make it stronger. The rear bumpers just seemed to get hung up for me.

Sorry, But maybe you guys don't use bumpers like we do???

I have a couple of friends that had shittybuilts last a matter of seconds wheelin.... I would stay away from them if you need protection agianst moose..
Save your money and buy some allpro or AOR's If you cant build them yourself..
