I have a small block 350 in my Toyota and I was wondering if someone could give me a horsepower estimate. Here's what I've got:

4 bolt main block .030 over
Vortec heads
Edelbrock performer RPM intake
Edelbrock 600 cfm carb
9.5:1 compression
Isky 270 mega cam
Headers, Flowmasters

From magazine build-ups I've been reading I would say this should be producing 375ish horsepower (flywheel) but I would appreciate your input. However much horsepower it is it's better than a toyota 22r.

I hate to say this but there is no right answer till you put it on a dyno, and tune it, granted if you have a air/fuel meter you can get it running almost perfect, now a horsepower guess'(estimate) isn't to hard but would be alot easier with some more info, domed or flat top pistons, etc.. I would guess your in the 300 to 320hp range, I by far am not a dyno, and I know that with proper tunin you can make that mild combo push 400(right clearances, knife edging the crank, list goes on.) Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now.

i aint familiar with isky cams but i think your 600 cfm will limit you to about 350 horsepower, you should easily have 300+ assuming its tuned; i would say get a 750 and maybe some mild porting will get you 400

I would have to agree with Mudrunner78.... dyno is the only way to go. You just can't go by magazines articles (they are simply advertisments) And advertisments are well...you know.
as comparison..friend of mine has a .060 350 with iron dart heads, 9.5:1 comp, Victor jr intake, worn out 600 Holley, BIG (I don't know the exact model) cam, headers....
so .....anyways...this is similar to your engine and we dont figure this combo is pushing over 350hp. It ran 12.5 in the quarter on a 50hp nitrous kit in a 65 nova w/o being broken in. gives you and idea anyways

Come on guys, you're supposed to tell me I have 400+ hp! Just kidding. I know a dyno is the only way to know, now if only they had one around here. It would be a great way to tune.

My dyno. knowledge would say it has 280-300 HP. I just built a 383 to put in my 4 Runner and the dyno said 475 HP/425 Torque. Project 4 Runner should fly soon.....

Shaker, what went into your 383? Just like to know as a baseline to try to guess mine. (10:1, Isky 292/505, Q-jet on Edelbrock, big ole Crane headers into 2-1/2" x 54" glasspacks.)

I agree with everbody who said about 300.
Torque is probably just shy of 400ft-lbs, like 380.

Port the heads and bump the compression to 10.5 and you'll be close to 400HP.

I would say your at around 300Hp or so.But Horsepower don't mean alot in a 4x4.Torque is what you need to get a rig moving.Look at the diesels they have about twice as much torque in them than ponys. You start trying to get all the ponys you can and the next thing you know your rig won't pull a hill with out being wound up.Blazin

I plugged in your specs onto Desktop Dyno 2000 and here is what I got.

2000rpms.....180HP and 340ft lbs of torque
4000rpms.....295 HP and 385 ft lbs ""
6000rpms.....390 HP and 400+ft lbs ""

I changed the profile on the 600cfm carb to a 750 cfm and only got a small change, maybe 5% and hardly no torque increase. I can send the file to ya if ya want. Fun to look at but it ain't gospel!

I got to thinking about this and decided that my estimate was a little conservative, but I never would have imagined 390Hp

I would have thought the heads would run out of poop at about 350. Ain't them Vortecs somethin else?

The carb thing doesn't surprise me though, look at NASCAR. Probably 90% of street engines are over-carbed.
