I have a '85 Runner with 4" allpro springs and 2" shackle lift all around do you think that 37's will fit with fender triming or will I need a body lift as well. Thanks

It's not just a matter of lift but a matter of how much up travel do you want?

If you want full up-travel, figure on moving the axle forward 2 inches and trimming the fenderwells back about three inches......

We'll need more specifics......

You could probably make them fit with out the lift if you are willing to cut the hell out of it....depends on you though, do you mind chopping it up or not? thats the question.

yea i am ok with choping. as for travel i am really just looking for the extra diff clearance for larger rocks and not so much for articulation

You may not be looking for articulation, but if you're running an All-Pro suspension in rocks, it's gonna find you anyway. When you go over a big boulder, one tire goes down, and the other one comes up - and there's not much you can do about that.

Except for cutting sheetmetal to clear the tires. I'd refer you to Chris Geiger's page - he had his truck set up for 35s and just trimmed to fit his 37s. (LINK)

Also, have you thought about a small body lift? (1-2") Theoretically, it will do a lot more good to jack the body up off the tires than to try and drop the tires some MORE. Although body lift is an evil phrase around here, it may be the way to go along with some minor trimming.

maybe it would be better to go with 35's and the fender trimming, then i would be able to articulate with minimal rubbing. what do you think?

I run 38's with 5-6" lift on an 85 Runner. One word for ya......sawzall. No rubbage. There was a post awhile back about 5" and 38's. There's some pix too.

Anybody make clean minor modifications to
the bottom rear of the front fenders, Cris G.
modifications are a little too radical for me. Any idea's or pictures.

I have 5 1/2" of suspension using 44044 and 2" bodylift with the front axle moved 2 1/2" forward with RS 9010's and ford shock mounts and 35x12.50 on 15x8 black rockcrawler rims. At full stuff and turning the wheel to full lock, my tire is about 1/8" away from hitting the firewall with NO trimming whatso ever. Are you guys saying you can clear 38's with with only 5-6" of total lift and some triming? Are you turning your tires to full lock, which in my opinion is with the bump stops set so that your tire will not hit the springs?

1990 SAS truck, axle 2" forward up front, roughly 4.5" suspension lift

NO body lift
NO fender trimming
NO bumptops

Seems to work fine

38's with 5-6" lift and major trimming. My stops are turned out alittle, just enough for no spring rubbage. My rims have 2" backspacing though. Full stuff while turn and it barely clears, but it does.

I have the All-Pro 4" springs with 1.5" lift shakles with a 3" body lift and my 37" Boggers don't rub. I did move the axle forward about 2.5" and I went to town with the sledge hammer. Works great though.

just go with 35's and get bigger if you want later... its not like tires are a $ commitment thats gonna last forever.... just my thoughts
