I have a line on some neck-down D60 shafts I'd like to pick up out of a '79 D60. I want them for trail spares (as i have no trailer nor tow rig at the moment). I have a '84 D60 that is a non-neck-down version.

so will these other types work?

Are the stub shafts the same?

What are the differences?

Again, these are trail spares, I'll have my non-neck-down versions for as long as the hold up. I only plan to use this stuff to get off the trail. Or should I save up and get trail spares that I can run till THEY break?

TIA

I assume we're talking Ford axles here?
if so, the stub axles are the same & will work as long as your newer axle has manual hubs with the snap ring groove at the outside of the stub. The newer one's with auto hubs I belive have the snap ring set an inch or two further into the splines.
The inners however will not work, they are different lengths between the 77.5-79 axles & the mid 80s-97 axles.
