Drove the truck around the block. put it in 1st low... thats low
put it in 1st 4.7 low.....thats really low
put it in 1st silly low and thats fawking LOW!!!! holy shit man at idle it would serge at two lugs at a time. I dunno how often I need to crawl THAT FAWKING SLOOW!!! Show me pix of where and why? Even in the box I can't see going that slow. maybee in what i it soup boul thats the two ledges you climb cuz you have to rally finnesse that but damn. I would think 4.7 low would be good for most all things. Hell I roasted the clutch with juts 5.29's 1st low but I got there . man I lost my first responce.
You guys posted seconds from each other.
I think that those rocks would deserve silly low. I debated for a while if I should spend the $$ for the 4.7's and went well "if I need em they will be there"and did it. Just wondering how often you need em.
How much gear oil does dual cases take? I lost that part of te instructions and I put in two quarts in the emty cases and it started to flow out the fill hole. I thought it was like 6quarts?

hey-

after just a couple of mild trails and two waterfalls, I've realized that two stock t'cases aren't low enough. it's at 109:1 right now, and whenever i can raise enough extra funds, it's definately gonna get a 4:1 set in the back case. so far, the truck won't do anything i couldn't do before w/ a '70 gmc 350/350 combo.

anyway, i think your gonna really like the deeper gearing!

A stock single is around 2, so 3 in a dual setup sounds right to me.

With my dual cases I pull the front shifter and pour oil in until it comes out of the rear fill plug. Let it level out and put the plug on and install the front shifter. This allows the front case to fill and than the rear case.

i went from 84:1 to 108:1 to 190:1, and every time i've been more and more impressed... if it's to low grab second or 3rd, that's what i've done, and it works great!

skye good to hear you got it running. I was in moab last weekend and tried dump bump with my stock gearing and just couldn't quite make it. then this guy pulls up in the same year and color as my truck setup with crawlers and made it look way TOO easy. Guess what I am saving up for now

dump bump success. 108:1, but i used second gear and blipped the throttle as the rear wheels came at the rock---advise from johnny lange and kelly smith of the local wildyoats

I think Dump Bump is more about driving technique, rather than gearing. I climbed it on my second try and I don't have a Double t-Case(YET). Its all about wheelbase (which we all know) and a bit of throttle. The 35's, Detroit & LS and 5.29's all helped though. I'm not trying to make anyone mad, just speaking up. By the way Sky, congrats on the Killer gearing.

Hey dual case guys.... The forward hi/low shifter seems assbackwards to me. I must shift down to be in high and forward twards the engine to be in low? the rear shifter is normal. Am I just a newbie or what the hell?
BTW NOONE NOTICED MY RAMP

Hey general no offense. when I say stock gearing I mean 33's with 4.10's and open diffs. I was real close say maybe a few more tries I could've made it way over on the right.

yea skye I'm yota80. I changed awhile back on one of those theme fridays after 911 and just decided to keep the real name. I'm up for building that tire rack whenever. maybe one of these next few saturdays you could bend me a couple of pieces. thats all I need, I can put it all together and weld it all up.
