I just put 5 inch springs on the yota and i need a longer drive shaft. I have heard of a square one and i know that they can be pretty cheap to build. I was wondering if anyone knows the specs on them. I ran a search but the search is screwed and wont work.

thanx

Have a bunch of 'ends' from various drive lines. My questoin - how do you center the big end to 2.50 od (2.00id) square tube? do you have a machine shop cut off the old tube? Or is it cut/grind/ beat to shape? Any internal plug welds or just a big hot 7018 bead? Some specifics would be nice as want to build a spare for the Hammers.

I used 2 female ends and ground them down so the 2" fits. On one end I cut off the 2" so it was 2" long and sliped the 2.5 over that and welded it all up. Hope that helps

does anyone have he measurements...the guy at the machine shop was asking me what kind of metal to use and i have no idea. He said normal square tubing wouldnt hold up to it. He also mentioned some alloyed and also said they only sell it in incriments of 20 feet!! Maybe some one out there has some extra they would like to sell.

I don't know of anyone that's tried. Depending on how careful you are, people have reported being vibration free up to 40, but most can only hit 20-30.

It's intended for crawling. Unlock your hubs and put it in 2 and it doesn't spin anyways - so unless you drive on pavement in 4 a lot, it's not important.
