I made a trail spare out of 2.5" schedule 40. It's .250" thick. I just need to get it balanced.

Rotate your perches, or do it with springs, and point the pinion at the transfer case and use a CV on the Transfer case end.

Ya, as long as you are a good enough welder to stack your life on such a kit, i prefer my designe, much better, double gusseted...
That style, if creased downward torwards the housing, could easily casue welds to tear and bolts to loosen, impossable with the way i build mine

Notice in the above picture there is now a gusset on both the front and rear of each perch, 4 gussets in all, we have also narrowed the width. With this design it simply can't bend or deform at all. This design can also be used with U bolts for those that prefer them.

Crash how about posting a picture?

I agree, that looks sketchy. Id rather thrash on some 9/16th ubolts.

And why would you buy the allpro kit and then use ubolts? Seems to me it would defeat the purpose of the kit.

Ya Crash, let's see your design. I'm curious what you are calling much better than AllPro's. ZUK

I have a 90 ex-cab with a one-piece d-shaft and it hangs low. The one thing I have learned is wheel placement on the rocks to keep the shaft off the rocks. (I am good one to talk about this, bent two shafts the year) Remember guys its 25% machine, 75% driver. Maybe you need to re-think the lines you are taking.
As far as all the posts turning in ads for AP and manufactures of products, as a fabricator I am happy they post pics, gives me ideas on how to build my own stuff. Remember real wheelers are built not bought. <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

Exactly! One of the primary purposes of the Pirate site is to exchange ideas on building trucks. In building my truck I have used ideas from others. When I built my flat bed I started with sevral pictures of beds downloaded from this site. I spread them out on a table and picked parts I liked about each bed and used this along with my own goals to make a better bed than I would have been able to do by myself.

Exchanging ideas and plugging products are two different things. What I see in this post is a plug. Key words: All Pro sells...
