i did some searching and found a few posts from over a year ago talking about putting a Saginaw P-type PS pump (ham can) on a Jeep 4.0L HO engine. has anyone successfully done this yet? any upgrade alternatives to the factory metric pump?

any help would be appreciated!

Why don't you like you stock pump? Mine steers 35" tires and a locker on slickrock with ease...

Cause people with real tires need a higher volume/pressure pump :flipoff2:

I have bumped the pressure on mine and it steers fine with hydro assist and 39.5" TSL's but is slow when trying to steer fast. I am current looking at swapping in a hydra boost GM pump to eliminate those issues.

I have done it 3 times with great success. Check out my site and give PM me if you have any questions

I have been using GM hydroboost pumps from diesel pickups w/hydroboost options because they would be at or near 1500psi from GM. I further bumped that up to around 2000psi, and ported the valve for better performance at idle speeds. I run 1 pump for steering ram, and 2nd pump for winch and hydroboost brakes.
