I just picked up a 1991 8" Toy rear end from the salvage yard last weekend and the guy there told me that he THINKS that it is a
V-6 rear but he is not sure <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0">
SOO now i need to find out whether it is a
V-6 rear or a 4-cyl rear so i can order my spool and gears....
How the hell can i find out <IMG SRC="smilies/question.gif" border="0">

Damn, he beat me to it. He talking about the "fins" around the yoke the driveshaft bolts to, by the way. If it's a 91, it could be - since they made quite a few V6 later model trucks. But the turbo's had them, too.

The V6 has a stronger housing, more bearings on the pinion shaft (which is thicker), and the gears are stronger.

How much did you pay? I bought mine from someone on this list for $50 - but paid through the nose for shipping.</font>
