Pardon me if this belongs in the newbie forum, but I'd rather ask the experts. The truck in question is a 79 Bronco with the dana 44HP front end.

I set out to replace my stock hubs this afternoon and came to a problem. After stripping out the stock hub and prying the axle outwards as far as it would go at the U-joint I could not properly seat the new inner hub (Warn Premium). No matter what I tried I was about 1/8" shy of the depth I needed to seat the snap ring. The really frustrating part was that I had clearly reached the point of interference, definate metal to metal contact. Is there some sort of a spacer deep inside there? Any other ideas?

I pried on it quite a bit with a small bar and then a pipe wrench, still no go.
Are you sure everything is in it's correct place? Are you using all the same parts? Different axles have different cuts for the Snap ring. (yes even different F150's straight Axle 44's)

Again, try to pry between the inner axle flange and the inner axle tube.
