i know i have the evil warn hubs, but whats a guy to do when thats what the truck comes with.

anyway, they are leeking out of the dial. should i ditch them and get the stock ones out of a junk yard, not sure on $$$$ of them.

or rebuild them with the kit for $25.00, and it takes about 1.5 weeks to get them?

Leaking? There should not be anything in your hub with the consistancy to "leak" out of a small space...

If you are leaking gear oil then you have other issues. Like your inner seal.

Of course... there should be an O-ring stopping it at your hub also.

There should be some grease on the inner hubs to lube them. But if you have shiznat leaking out more than likely your getting gear oil into the hub. If that is the case your gonna have to change the inner axle seal.

If it were mine, I would order a seal kit from A-P or Man-A-Fre, put that sucker on jack stands and reseal that whole front end, changeing the gear lube, taking apart the Birfields and cleaning them, replacing the knuckle (trunion) bearings and races (they come in the seal kit), cleaning and checking the wheel bearings, replace if needed and setting it back up to factory specs. If you do not have a manual, go to your local Toyota Dealer and see if they will make you a copy of the Factory Service Manual on setting up the front end. Your front end sounds like it is long overdue for some TLC!!!

You are going to pay a lot more for the parts from a dealer, All Pro kit runs $120.00 and it has everything you need. I have been told that the Man-A-Fre is about $75.00 for the same kit. Order the kit from A_P and you can do the rebuild next weekend.

As far as the Aisin hubs they work great and I am pretty sure it is a bolt in job as long as you get all the parts with them including the cone washers. Warn hubs suck, there are people on here that they are great but I know a lot of people that have had problems and have gone back to the Aisin hubs. I have never seen a Aisin hub break, but I guess theydo.

last time i had the breaks apart i packed all the bearings and they still look okay. might as well do them though since i am in there.

will i have to redo it all again if in the future i put a locker up front?
