Okay, my powermax 600 showed up today. The tag said it was wired for 208-240V? My garage is 220V, just a combination of both 110v legs in the circuit box. Do I need to switch to the 230V settting or can I run it as wired? Sorry for the lame newbie question...

When you say switch to 230v setting is this a switch on your plasma or taps you rewire on your plasma? you have a choice between 208-240 and 230 on your plasma??

It's been a while, but I seem to remember I had the same confusion when my Lincoln Mig arrived. The 230V is for industrial 3 phase wiring, I believe.

King of pain, you are right. I looked through the manual and somewhere in the amperage draw chart it lists anything other than 208-240V as 3 phase but does not say anthing about it in the setup section...

Thanks,

I've got a Hypertherm 600 as well, the 208-240 model is wired for singlephase power. There is a special 230 v 3 phase model available as well.

Just feed 208 - 240 to the standard welder plug it has. Hot's to the outside blades, ground to the round prong
