I have a ford sport steering wheel for my highboy, and it has some surface rust on the aluminum looking part Does anyone know what material it is. Also after I buff it should I clear coat it or what should I do?

I would say you kind of answered your own question. If it has rust, then it's not aluminum, it's probably just chrome or some sort of polished steel. If it's not rust, then it's just oxidation or corrosion on aluminum. If it's shiny, then just buff it and leave it, you just may have to go and clean it from time to time.

Thank you I appreciate your post. I will try that I plan on taking the outer foam out and replacing it with wood.
Thanks again
