does anybody know of a company that makes good inexpensive rockers for a fj-40? i want to know if it's worth it to buy some or should i just build some custom ones. i am very capable of fabricating and i can get metal for next to nothing so if you know any inexpensive places to get rockers tell me!

It took me like an hour to make my rockers. I just tucked a piece of 1.5 x 1.5 box under the rockers to the floor and folded the remaining sheet metal around it. This gives me high clearance and keeps the body narrow, so I rarely ever hit them. Also looks stock. :smokin:

A friend is rebuilding his 40 body to look pretty stock. The rockers though were shot behind the outer metal, so he replaced the stock sheetmetal with some 2x2" square tube. He also wanted some diamond plate (Ray's old school) so he welded that on too.

GreenPig, that jig is some serious overkill. Is he making that tub into an amusement park ride?

There was a guy in Beach N' Toys here in SoCal that built a full 2x2 subframe and then made 3 hydraulic points between it and the regular frame.

The jig is so well balanced he can turn the tub easily with one hand! It'll be really nice for spraying on the epoxy primer and paint, assuming the weather holds.

The lowest parts of the tub will be completely hi-lift-able, and the back piece was excessive at 1/4" wall (all he had lying around) but it makes it easy for him to tap holes to bolt on his factory tailgate. Ray is a perfectionist, and prefers to do things right the first time around.

Exactly what I did. Gained about 4" of rocker clearance, and while I can land on them, I haven't yet...

I bought mine from simon at Faultline Fab. in San Dimas. They are really nice and have held up well. I bought them off an ad he had on ebay. I think i paid 69.00 for the pair, well worth it.
