Of, if i break a rear 3rd, will it break the spool? Or should i not worry and just weld the damn thing. Also when welding i heard once that you need to bake the 3rd because the oil impregnates the steel and you cant get a good weld unless u get that out? Any truth to that.

Oop's blew up his R&P w/ an ARB and kept driving on it once he had sheered off all teeth... had it cleaned out and new gears put in and it was fine.

Not too many moving parts on a spool though... so I think it might be OK.

Just repaired a runner that blew up the ring and pinion going 85mph. (Genuine gears suck) Took out the drive line and the t-case, but the spool was ok.

I would think it would be hard to break a R&P coasting down the interstate?

Was everyone OK?

Every one was OK. I'm pretty sure they had to clean out their shorts though. 90 Runner with a V6. The drive line beat the fuel tank into next week.
