Of, if i break a rear 3rd, will it break the spool? Or should i not worry and just weld the damn thing. Also when welding i heard once that you need to bake the 3rd because the oil impregnates the steel and you cant get a good weld unless u get that out? Any truth to that.
Just repaired a runner that blew up the ring and pinion going 85mph. (Genuine gears suck) Took out the drive line and the t-case, but the spool was ok. <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

Every one was OK. I'm pretty sure they had to clean out their shorts though. 90 Runner with a V6. The drive line beat the fuel tank into next week. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
I lost a R&P in the front end of my truck on a dirt road. It took out the Detroit locker where the ring gear bolted on. The whole thing was a strange event, but I guess almost anything is possible.
