Have a 1980 pickup. Recently aquired a complete rear axle housing from a 92 or so(not sure what year it is). It has HUGE holes drilled for the center pins and some wierd brackets with cylindric type things that go into where the center pin should go. Do you guys re-use these bracket things or should I just weld on a chunk of flat steel with the correct hole size for my springs? WTF did they do this for? (I say this a lot but was wondering if anyone knew why)

My blue 90 truck came that way. Had to keep the U bolts tight and keep the axle housing lined up, but not a real issue to worry about in all the years I ran it.
