well here is the shit...
304 v8
holley dizy (points)
new points
new condenser
new NGK's .028-.030 gap
new Bosch 7mm wires
new cap and rotor
Carb is a holley 2300 500cfm IIRC with the 50cc big shot acc pump with out of the box jets whatever size they are.
Anyway...this piece of shit has been sitting for sometime now and I have been doing little things here and there to it. Now it is time to drive the son of a bitch and I am fighting this hard start and run like shit war.
What I get is starting like it is flooded....then running like it is loaded up.
I pulled the set of plugs that I had just put in it before the NGK's and they were pitch BLACK. It runs like it is not hitting all cylinders or like it is way too rich...which makes me think that it is weak spark.
So here is what I have measured:
Starting volts to Ballast resistor: 12.5
volts to the coil after Ballast: 9
Running volts to Ballast resistor: 14
volts to the coil after Ballast: 11
I bought what I thought to be the correct coil a while ago after I put mine on a friends 87' Dodge 318. Then I think that I bought the right one for mine.
This thing ran sweet before it sat and the old coil was snatched...
Should I just by a Pertronix for my points dizy and do away with the Ballast and points bull-shit for ever. Don't the Pertronix units run on just about any voltage?
Just now I almost went "Falling Down" like Micheal Douglas and started throwing shit at my rig...
