I just bought a 1987 Samurai last weekend, it's my first. It's all stock but has a couple of issues. I need to replace the speedo cable, get a rear seat + brackets and belts. It also has the 'flat spot' when you floor the gas, I've heard of a fix, but didn't find info on what to do. The biggie is that the windshield frame is a bit rusty and seems to be leaking, a lot. Is that just a junkyard part or can I get one new from someplace? I found a ton of aftermarket parts places, but nothing that carries replacement stock parts. Just lifts, bumpers, lights, etc. I'm sure I'll be all over that stuff soon enough, but for now I need it to be able to drive in the rain :D . Any links you guys have to replacement parts websites would be great.

Thanks, those both help. Seems like the carb fix is easy and cheap, the windshield is a little less cheap, which I figured.
Found some stuff on eBay as well, forgot about looking there.
come to Sac, ca and you can have my rear seat and everything that goes with it/....
if you're driving a samurai in the rain and not getting wet, you're not driving a samurai.:D

Speakin the truth!!
Oh yah, I get wet alright, REAL wet. The plug in my floor is out, and no carpet. PLus somehow a TON of water is getting behind my dash and literally poors out when I tip to one side or the other. Think it's from the rusty window frame. I plan on cleaning as much of it off as I can and siliconing it to slow it down until I get a new one.

Do you realize *where* Tacoma Washington is, dude?
The first thing you guys need to check is the vent box under windsheild and over the heater box. there are drains that get clogged with leaves and twigs. If the rain can't drain it will overflow inside the cab.
hey man im in tacoma also you sould give me a ring ill see if i can help you out k

Thanks a ton for the helpfull hints guys. I'll check that vent box tomorrow for sure, would be great if the water is from that. There is rust on the windshield frame, but I didn't think it was THAT bad, wouldn't surprise me if it was that box.

Moto261, thanks for the offer, I'll give you call sometime.
Ok, I may be blind, but how do you get to that vent box to clean it out? Is it up behind the dash? I'm used to cars having access to that spot right above the firewall, with the wiper motor. Samurai's are obviously different...
like i said i give me a ring ill help you out i need to do it to mine also

:massey:
Your gonna have to take the heater out to get that part out. Mine was full of pine needles. Both drain tubes were clogged tight and i had to basicly take the entire dash apart to get the heater and then the box out with it. Once i was in there i took the heater apart also and cleaned the top of the heater core. If your heater box is full of leafs or whatever you can almost bet the top of the heater core is packed too.
