Is there any hidden bolts or secrets to removing the intake from the head on a 1985 22re? Its coated with enough oil to give me a hard time finding the obvious bolts.

Wash the engine down before you start working on it. Makes things a lot nicer.

I did, this thing was nasty, 2 cans of degreaser and a brush. I need something for those hard to reach areas (a tooth brush).

Get a hold of a power washer or take it to one of those spray car wash places. I call it the quarter car wash, because when I was 18 that is how much it cost for ten minutes !!!LOL

yea, dont ferget the bolt at the base of the water outlet on the lower intake, its an allen (size?) and a real bitch , every one i've ever seen has been stripped. replaced mine w/ a hex head-saves much grief. other than that, easy as pie. Good luck.

peace,
Chris

If your trying to pull the head, then the easiest way is to unplug the wire harness from the computer and pull it through the fire wall. Then just pull the head and intake off together. It's muck easier!!! I wouldn't even try to get the bottom bolts while it's still under the hood.

some bolts a wiring harness, hoses and throttle cable.

i cleaned mine with a heavy coat of castrol super clean inside and out. then took it down to a spray car wash at 3.00 in the morning so i wouldn't get caught and sprayed it out for $1.00 for 4 mins. clean as a whistle and some more power to boot!
