Hey fellow Pirates

Question for the tire experts:
Is it Normal that the New tire is narrower tread width than the old tire, as much as 3/4"?

After 20 years Crawling n wheeling on Super Swamper TSL SX 36x12.5 I just bought my 3rd round of Interco TSL SX 36 x12.5 and they are smaller than what I have from 2008. it's about 3/4 " narrower tread pattern.
I called Interco and though the guy would not share/confirm specs of measurement other than the label on the tire, he did say the " cordage will stretch and the base of the tread is wider than the top. "
yes I agree and see the base of tread is wider than the top, but not by much or enough to widen by 3/4-1" .

They have lasted me 12 years, trail proven No issues, aired down to 5psi on 18 bolt beadloacks , awesome at Fordyce and Rubicon and Hollister . I bet they would last longer if I conditioned the rubber , protected from sun, as they have a fair amount of cracking, and though the rears are at the wear mark due to having to much fun drifting on turns. I have not read specs of any tire tougher than these.

Thank You

I know the SX2 and LTB’s are made in China, I’d bet the SX’s are too. If so, they’re probably using a different mold than way back.

Yes, the interco vendor has changed again, though Interco told me it is the same mold.

Problem is , I have now measured in several places using 2 T squares measuring from the different side lugs where it meets the base of the tire, it is 9 3/4" Wide and all measurements come back as 3/4 " narrower than my 2008 SX tires at 10 1/2" wide

I have a bunch of measurement pictures, I'll see about posting

I need to call interco back to hear what they have to say .
There is just no way
