was looking at putting a 700r4 in my 73 pickup when i found out that one built strong is around $1300 and then once all the wiring and tv cable kit and the output shaft and other stuff needed was going to run me like 2000 bucks. just wondering if the overdrive would save me enough in gas to justify that much over like a $400 t350. any feedback would be appreciated.

Most all modifications donre to increase fuel milage take many years to pay for themselves. On the other hand, you also get the benefit of less wear on the engine, and quieter running due to lower rpm.
Does that 1300 include the torque convertor?

$2,000 for a tranny seems kinda steep for me. I got a rebuilt 700 from the local shop w/converter and cable for $650. I would shop around. For that much you could order a B&M trans. Look for the 700 that just used the TV cable w/out the electric lockup. easier and cheaper. Just my $.02
