i found a 78' f 250, it has leaf springs front and rear...so that means that the front is a 44 and the rear is a 60 right? is the 60 a full-floater? it has 8 lug bolt pattern, if that is any help. won't the spring pads line up with my YJ?

Not sure of the rear (probably a 60) but double check the front.

F250s with the snow plow provision had the RC 60 front. set up for SOA from the factory

what is the best way to tell if it is a full floater? and what is the best way to see if it is a dana 60?

i have already bought some bronco axles, but will the knuckles from the bronco fit on the f250, i have already had them tapped and ready for hi-steer?

OK, you don't know how to tell if it is a full-floater, but you're talking about hi steering and axles swaps?

Ok, the rear will have a flanged axle that is bolted to the hub. It's gunna be a 30 spline FF rear.

Front may be a Dana 60...we pulled one off a 78 Ford F250 not too long ago. Look at housing. If you have a Dana 44 already it will be substantially larger. The U joints will also be huge compared to the Dana 44.

Sorry but the front is a HP44. its still a good find but its no HP60. as for the 60 rear they are a dime a dozen with the 30 spline axles. a factory 35 spline tho would be a keeper.

It sucks that you live in the rust belt. How many would you like me to send you? I can get them for as little as $50. I could literally spend all day pulling them every day of my life and still not empty every junkyard near my house.

There are 78-79 F250's out there with a R60 front. They were I believe rated at over #8500 gvwr. Rare but they do exist. Those were the days before ford had an F350 FWD. Plenty of Two by F350.

Living in Michigan may be to your advantage. Ford has certain suspension setups where the F250 had a Dana 60R for snow plows etc. So the B.S. about them not having a Dana 60 front is wrong Some did.
If that one has one that is a hell of a deal.

michigan is key, haha even if it is not a dana 60 front, the 44 is better than the one i got off of the bronco. it at least already has the spring perches in the right place and don't have to grind that radius arm crap! and it probably has 4.10's too that will be good for at least a couple monthes

i wished i lived in heaven too
