February 17, 2010 (Orange, Ca) - The 2010 Jeepspeed season got off to a roaring start with 27 Jeep entries at the classic Blue Water Resort and Casino Parker 425. Some of the biggest news of the day included 21 Year Old 2009 JeepSpeed Champion, Ray Griffith, upsetting the worlds fastest off road racers with a second overall in qualifying spot in the fastest Trick Truck Class and Unlimited Buggy Class in his newly purchased Class One buggy. All JeepSpeed teams are immensely proud of one of their own graduating to the unlimited class.

Jeepspeed Cup winner Jon Krellwitz!

The Jeepspeed Cup race was won by the Orange Coast Jeep entry Jon Krellwitz who was driving a Jeep Wrangler powered by a new ATK Jeepspeed Performance Engine now available at O.C.Motorsports. Jon quickly passed all his Jeepspeed Cup Class 3700 competitors in his Team ATK Wrangler to dominate the field and take the win by one hour and twenty minutes. Bob Mamer and Bob Land battled all day for second spot with Mamer pevailing. Ted Holt from Georgia got caught in the late evening downpour that flooded the track with 4 feet of standing water. What a day and what a race this turned out to be!

Back-to-Back Jeepspeed Challenge winner Eric Helgison!

Eric Helgison who last month purchased a new Jeep Wrangler from Orange Coast Jeep won the Jeepspeed Challenge race. This race turned out to be an epic challenge, with 20 Jeeps leaving the line at 15-second intervals; the racing was fast and furious. The late day storm added additional drama to a race of high attrition. The 2009 Parker 425 winner Eric Helgison and his Cherokee made it a back -to-back victory by winning again in 2010 with a convincing margin of over one hour. Second place went to Clint Malburg in his Wrangler, followed by rookie teams Scott Watkins 3rd and Tom Thorvick 4th. Lady driver Tandi Hartman had a credible 5th place after her team had to change transmissions early in the race.

"This Best of the Desert race proves that JeepSpeed is a highly successful race vehicle as well as the most affordable way to enter the sport", says Clive Skilton, Founder of Jeepspeed. Clive goes on to say, "The entire Jeepspeed team is extremely proud of all of the Jeepspeed race series and is looking forward to the entire 2010 Jeepspeed Season."

Round Two of The ATK Jeepspeed Challenge takes place at the world famous General Tire Mint 400, Las Vegas , March 26th and 27th, 2010.
