Differential is a GM 8.5" 10-bolt. I would like some advice on the pinion depth.

The first pictures are with the factory .035" pinion spacer, with .008" backlash.

Next, I tried a .039" shim stack, and here is how it looks at .009"

Thanks, I really appreciated the video, but contact patterns I'm getting don't seem to match what that guy was showing in the video; probably the cut of the gears I'm using (5-cut).

I consulted with some guys at work today, and they think the last pattern looks best (.006" backlash, and .039" shim.), and I agree.

I hear ya, he explains situations with irregular patterns as well. The main point is to get everything as centered on the teeth as possible and hit your backlash. Outside of buying new gears there is nothing else you can do except send it lol
