I know this is short notice ,but there is a work date set for June 7th on McKinney-Rubicon Springs road , Placer County will starting to repair the water bars on the road . Del the lucky basterd is in Utah for the week doing some wheeling, wish I could be there . He has asked me to rep FOTR , The County also asked if maybe we could get a couple of 4x4's and trailers up there to help with hauling gravel and Rock Cobble to the needed area's , also there will be plenty of hand work to be done.
Placer County will also have a inmate crew up there working to. This will be the first time that FOTR will be working with Placer County with manual labor . The goal for the day is to try and get 2-3 water bars rebuilt.
If you can help or have any suggestions let me know.
Thanks, Rusty

Damn it.

This needs to get passed around so everyone who "voluntereed" at the Rubicon Closure Meeting can get there.

I don't have a trailer and can't haul much rock but I can swing a pick and shovel.

Is there times or contact information????

I know that midweek stuff is hard to work into a schedule, but that is OK. I believe that Sharon wants to use this day to see if this process will work or not.She is trying to get a good plan worked so it is organized for the August work weekends of the 18th and the 25th
When hopefully we will have a shitload of volenteers up there.
please email Del to get on the FOTR mailing list. [email protected]

I wanted to go and help out but I just recently had surgery on my arm and wrist, it is still in the healing process. I am not supposed to push, pull or lift anything with it for another 5 weeks. I know it sounds like a lame excuse but I am sorry. Hopefully enough people can show up for it.

The work party was a success.
A word of Thanks goes to Slo-Migo and Toyaholic for showing up on such a late notice to give a helping hand.

When will the next one be? Hopefully I can help out then.

How many people showed up? Since you said it was a success, you guys must have got alot done. I thank you guys so much for showing up and doing the needed work on the road.

I kind of feel like I should have gone up there to make sandwiches or something that I won't be hurting my healing wrist for you.

I applaud you guys

And again, I am sorry that I could not assist. I feel very guilty about it.

Thanks Rusty for being there and letting us know about it. Thursday, June 14th, is the next scheduled work party. And then June 28th following that. Rusty*Twn44s*, Michael*Slo-Migo*, Myself, Sharon from Placer County, A couple of forest service guys, and a group of about 8 or 10 inmates. As far as what we "accomplished", I really believe we gave a LOT of encouragement to Sharon that we WILL be there for her whenever she needs us and even more if she gives us good warning. Today was more of a "get a feel for it" day. We diverted a small "stream" so that we will be able to fill in a MAJOR rut hopefully next thursday. There is SOO much work to do. After seeing today what really needs to be done, we definately need to find individuals to donate time/materials/tools. btw: It was nice to meet you Rusty and Michael.

The tools are going to vary, The Forest Service wants P-County to build Rolling Graded Dips at all the water crossings on the road.
Personal equipment should include, Shovel,Ax,hand/chain saw,pry bar, pick,or maddox , chain , gloves , Wheel barrow , MOSQUETO REPELANT.

Heavey equipment-Backhoe, Jackhammer,Small dump truck (pickup model 4x4),??
Sharon is trying to see how the process of the reapairs are going to work.So that in August it is not a goat f*ck up there on the work weekends.
On the up and coming Thursday's there should be a county backhoe up there to lend a hand , The one that was scheduled was stuck over at Skwa Valley Ski Resort, dealing with the control board over there.
Even if you cannot do heavey work Sharon could use some help, directing up there in case she has to be with the forest service.
The plan will be to use the backhoe to do the heavey stuff, and the Volunteer's and the trustee's to place rock and cobble in the new rolling graded dips.

Ok, guys, I'm back. Utah was as you might expect. Day after day of wheeling in awesome scenery, cool breezes, and high mountain meadows. All the time I worried about my FOTR pards and the work that was being done in my absence.
But seriously, I haven't even checked in with Rusty yet, but I assume that the fact that some of you were there was a GREAT start and a good show to the County that FOTR will be there to get stuff done.
Thanks to you that made it. I know it was short notice; but I didn't want us to miss this opportunity and Rusty stepped up to fill my shoes (boots? tivas? flip flops?)
Anyway, we're making progress. DEL
