Pirate4x4.com has announced its plans to team up with Dirt Newz to bring the most comprehensive Internet coverage ever done of any off road race!

I just uploaded a 13 minute video of myself and Camo discussing the race. Topics include how rock crawlers will fare in the desert, how desert racers will fare in the rocks, what kind of rig it will take to win, and who we think is going to win. Check out the video here.

Our coverage will be unprecedented:

  • Driver interviews on Pirate4x4TV the week before the race.
  • A LIVE radio show broadcast from Mean's Dry Lake the day before the event, where we will be interviewing many drivers and other guests.
  • Live blog on race day, with up to the minute updates.
  • Photos posted throughout race day.
  • Video clips posted throughout race day.
  • LIVE STREAMING radio feed of race ops, and racer frequencies!
  • LIVE tracking of all race vehicles on the course!
  • And more!!!

Pirate4x4.com is proud to annouce we are the title sponsor of the Pirate4x4.com/Interco Tires Bronco driven by JR Reynolds and co driver motocross star and one legged maniac Chris Ridgeway. We look forward to seeing you guys on the podium!

About King of the Hammers

KOH is the first race of its kind. The event will take place on February 22, 2008, and is a non-spectator event. The event will part rock race, and part desert race. Race teams will start at 30 second intervals from Means Dry Lake bed, and will navigate through the desert on a set race course to their first rock course. As of today, the official course has not been released, and is not going to be released until race week. What we do know is there will be approximatley 50-60 miles of desert racing, and approximately 7 Johnson Valley trails (aka: Hammer Trails - Sledgehammer, Jackhammer, Wrecking Ball, etc) to make up the course. There are going to be approximately 50 competitors in this race, from all different disciplines of racing, such as:

Cameron Steele - Trophy Truck Driver
Tracy Jordan - Professional Rock Crawling Champion
JR Reynolds - Top Truck Challenge winner
JT Taylor - Top Rock Racer and Class 1 desert racing crew chief

Who will win? What will it take? Stay tuned to Pirate4x4, and we'll let you know!

The first driver's meeting is underway. It's a who's who of rock crawling on the lake bed. But not only is it a who's who of rock crawling, but there are some celebrity desert racers here as well.

pete-map.jpg

Vetran SCORE Trophy Truck driver "Pistol" Pete Sohren looks over the 50 mile loop. He tells fellow racer Cameron Steele and Spike TV, "We'll do fine on the blue parts. It's the red parts (where the rock trails are) that I'm a little concerned about!"

shannon-tracy.jpg

Shannon Campbell and Tracy Jordan are rock crawling legends, and both heavily favored to be on the podium on Friday. Can they keep their rigs together?

And without further adieu, the maps...
