I have EFI on my 22r (not 22re) engine, I don't see anywhere that I can put the EFI knock sensor. I think celicas came with EFI 22r's, correct?....was the knock sensor for them different? The hole on my block where you would screw the knock sensor onto a 22re block, is to small...any ideas for me?

Yeah Dan, I had an 83 Celica that was fuel injected. I would go check but I sold it Sunday. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

When I bought my runner, it didn't have a knocksensor, I had to drill out that hole where it would normally go, and tap it. Worked like a charm!I think that hole is where the motor mount would bolt on in a celica.

Only that on VWs (what I am most familiar with - shhh) the torque value you tighten the sensor bolt to is extremely important. The pieziozoic (sp?) crystal that sneses the certain frequency vibration of knock must be torqued right or it won't sense any vibes or it will think there is knock when there is none & retard your timing (if Toyota knock sensors give that info to the ECU...)

I have an 85 22r, does it have a knock sensor????and where is it at, my truck does have a knock in the engine in the mid range RPM ( no tach), it clears up at higher RPMS...could a new sensor fix this?

I also tried to find teh O2 sensor, AND I COULD NOT FIND IT to save my life, any help would be appreciated....

Only the EFI engines have a knock sensor.

CHeck your timing if you have a knock on a carbed engine. Otherwise, you may have a rod knock.

Not that this is what LC Engineering was writing this article for but here it is none the less!

Knock sensor relocation by LC.

Maybe that'll help you out!
Good luck to ya!
