Time is a factor here boys;

old phone (blackberry priv) took a dump today after 3ish years. I liked the phone but dont want to replace it with new old stock. recommend me something that i can hopefully have in my hand by saturday morning (or readily available at bestbuy, walmart, att)

needs:
not an iphone
roughly 5" by 3" phone. dont want anything huge
a "rugged" model would be a plus
not really afraid of off brands or chinese devices but if i can stay with a known name brand that'd be great
would really like to stay under $300

I'd love to go without but i need this for work and porn. I can limp along what i have but it's a lost cause at this point and i'd like something reliable before i head out for the weekend. I'll read the older threads in the meantime but that info gets dated real fast it seems

Check out swappa.com for used (and some NIB) phones.

I just got a Samsung S8 Active virtually unused for $360. Upgrading from an S5 Active, I'm happy with it except for the built-in battery. The flagship Samsungs are, imho, as close as you'll get to the polish of an iphone.

Check this for side-by-side spec comparisons. https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3

Before the S5 I had an iPhone (2014). I am so done with their walled garden bullshit. I plug my Android into a computer, it's like a thumbdrive- drag/drop whatever content I like. The Apple requires iTunes for the slightest thing.

If you're buying one off clist, be sure to run the IMEI (like a VIN for phones) through an online checker. They can be blacklisted (reported stolen), and will never work again. Swappa has one, or there are many other sites.

I've used PureTalk (not StraightTalk!) service for 5+ years, and they're great. AT&T reseller. Their prices go down regularly, and the data included gets faster/bigger. Georgia-based customer service.

LG G7 Thin Q

Same operation system as the Priv, so you hardly have to learn a thing.

Prices on galaxy 8+ have come down a helluva lot. I'm very happy with the phone.

Nokia 6.1 or 7.1

Some of the most robust phones made.

Uses Android one program, so it is pure unmolested Android software - closest thing to getting a google Pixel phone without the price, and is guaranteed software and security updates regularly for two years.

Available at Best Buy or Amazon.

hesitant on a used device. some things i've had luck with but electronics are not one of them

LG G7 Thin Q
muy expensivo

costs more than i'd like to spend on a phone. the phone itself looks pretty good but i'm reading a lot of bad reviews of the company itself

Nokia 6.1 or 7.1
looks like we may have a wienar so far with the 7.1. my local bestbuy has it on sale at the moment too

Just like a used car. Gotta know what they're worth, and check them out. I haven't had a new phone since an LG flip in 2002. This S8 was absolutely pristine, with lots of pics. I ran the IMEI, and it was only a few months old.

Anyway, glad you found something local.

J7. Was about $100 at Walmart IIRC. I ran it over with a creeper, replaced the screen myself and put an ebay special case on it. Goin strong for over a year.
