I have the chance to acquire a 440 out of a 72? dodge van, only problem is, its just block, crank, rods, pistons, needs everything else(a rebuild) any body got a good "truck" combination to make power, also does anybody know if there is an efi kit that doesnt cost an arm and leg for RB blocks? Just looking for general info on good parts, tricks, and bang for you buck stuff

good low end or midrange power? if its low end, build it stock with a slight bump in compression and a good TBI kit(howell, turbo city, etc.). if its more midrange power a good truck type cam kit with minor bowl work done on the heads works good. a good exhaust goes along ways as well.

as far as fuel injection without costing an arm and a leg, thats relative to how much you think is expensive. i think any aftermarket injection set-up is expensive, but unless you come across a stock set-up in a wrecking yard(impossible for the RB motor) your kinda stuck. you might try looking for a TBI 454 to scrounge parts for a homemade stock injection for your 440. i dont know, never tried it personally, but thats what i would do. just my .02(as usual). :D

Edelbrock must have just put that up, because i looked for it just before posting and i couldnt find it, I guess i would like fat numbers between idel and 5000 rpm, no drag motor, but i would think a .030 over 440 could make 450/hp 450 ft/lb torque by 5000 rpm no problem, anything would be an improvement over my 165hp and 240 ft/lb lame dog 360
