After months of searching and reading I finally decided to buy a lift. I ended going with the OME heavy duty lift and 1.5" lift blocks from 4crawler. As simple as this all should have been it was far from it. Nothing but problems with everything. I would have liked to do an RUF and Chevy 63's but, no time as of now and I think the OME lift will do just fine for what I plan to do.
Initially I started with 5" shackles on my stock setup. After wheeling a few times I came across an elocker for next to nothin as far as cost goes. I swapped the rear elocker and changed to 4:88's and added some 33's. Wasn't bad aside from some rubbing here and there. A few weeks back I found another elocker for $200 bucks. That one goes up front. I used the 12volt guy harness and it is a great product. Super easy and not complicated to install. The front elocker install was a PITA. Aside from the grinding/cutting/welding/drilling I had to cut part of the upper spring mount off to clear the elocker motor. And even then it's a tight fit.
So after dealing with wrong parts being delivered, and other issues, some self created, I've got the front elocker in and springs installed. Aside from the shocks already being topped out, which I'll be getting new ones tomorrow, the ride isn't too bad. I thought the shocks that came with the OME lift would be good enough but they are much too short. We'll see how it is when in get longer shocks. I still need to make sway bat extensions so I can bolt the sway bar back on. As it sits now I have a ton of clearance in the front. The front fender sits at 42.5" from the ground.
Rear springs get here on Tuesday and ill have them installed Thursday morning just in time for a trip to fordyce to test everything out. As of now the stock push pull steering seems ok. No crazy bump steer or swerving yet. Eventually I'll add the high steer. I'll post some before and after pics and some of the mods I've done when I get time.
It's been a slow build sorta since I got the truck a little over a year ago. I've almost completely restored the interior. Really only need to clean up the seats a little better and put some better speakers in. The exterior is ok. Still planning to add my rock sliders and purchase bumpers and a wind soon. Then repaint it.
