So my dad has this old 93 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd he uses around the farm back in Oklahoma. Well he tows 3-6K with it pretty regulary. Now he is one his 3rd gm 10 bolt rear end and the springs are shot. A good frined of mine has a 92 2500 ( 8 lug ) truck that is parts only. I was wondering if the front end from the a arms out from the 25000 will bolt up to the 1500 my dad has. I know swapping the running gear wont make it a 2500 , but would make it tow the load he hauls better and be more stable. So will the front end swap over to his truck? He loves this old truck and wont get rid if it. Has over 300K miles on it.

Dad has a dodge 3500 with the 6.7 for the big stuff.

If you take the knuckle off the arm on the 2500 it will fit on the 1500...the cv's etc are ok too...only difference is the unit bearing and number of bolt holes on the unit bearing (4) versus (3) and of course the lug holes....

I believe, you can swap the arms and torsion bars and make it a 1500hd....

Wiat, this is a 2wd right? no CV shafts on a 2wd.

I'd swap his cab onto that frame. The parts are similar but the arms are beefier and ball joints bigger etc... Depending on the GVRW of the 2500 the master and booster could be different. etc.. Cab swap easiest way to get full benefit.

Only benefit I am trying to accomplish is getting a FF14 rear end in the truck which will boklt right up and making the front end match so he only has to carry 1 spare tire.. Still wont tow more than the 1/2 ton towing capacity. the truck is perfectly maintained, and the paint is almost new condition. Its been babied since day 1, just worked on a farm most of tis life and used as a DD. he is not interested in swapping the cab ( hard headed old guy) But I can talk him into letting me bolt in the 2500 running gear if it will bolt to his truck without modification to the frame.

This truck is a 1993 1500 2wd. No CV shafts.

A 2500LD wouldn't be a bad option. You'd get a 14bsf which is plenty of axle for that truck. Up front you could keep your stock control arms and springs and just swap the knuckles out to get the bigger 6 lug rotors and bearings. I did some research at one point and I'm reasonably convinced you could actually just put the 6 lug rotors on the original half ton spindles with a different inner bearing and seal I want to say, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

Putting 8600 lbs stuff under a 6100 lbs chassis doesn't make it an 8600 lbs truck, but putting 7200 lbs stuff under it does make it a 7200 lbs truck.

I agree 100% and thats not what i am trying to do. Just make it more stable and use suspension that i can get for free from the 2500. My goal is to get rid if the shitty 10 bolt.

If it were mine i would just get a new truck and be done, but dad has sentimental attachment to this truck. Its teh first truck her ever bought New.
I had considered the SF14, but Iwould have to chase down parts, This FF14 adn front end components are just sitting there for the taking.
