Hi,

all you have to do is unlock the hubs, and it drives fine on the road. My buddy did it to his cj-5, no problems on the road.

I finally wheeled my rig today after welding the spiders on the front D30.

What a difference. I also couldnt believe how much better wheeling with a locked front was!

Steering is not as 1/2 as bad as some people said it was and would be!

Will be perfect once i get the Posi Lock installed and be able to disengage it from inside!

Who needs an ARB? Just weld it and get hydro assist and you've got the best of both worlds. Fully locked and you'll be able to steer like your open all the time.
Oh, by the way boston mangler. When i was still running the stock diconect axle up front i went down to the local Peterbuilt house and bought a air switch and plumbed it into the vacuum actuator on the axle and that worked great and I could have a switch on the dash to turn it off and on. Alot cheaper than a Posi lock.

sooner or later one will give ... its just too much stress in there ... all you do is play with material-tolerances

It is well worth having to get out and lock the hub when ya need it. Best locker money doesnt have to buy <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Give it some time...I'm willing to bet you'll want to change it.

I welded my 44 and loved it at first...sure it's inconvienent to get out and unlock a hub every 2 minutes but it's worth savin' $600 bucks....but not for long. After beaking axles every trip and having to have someone ride along to lock and unlock a hub all the time you'll relize it would have been much better to do it right the first time and get and ARB...or even a detroit. But I much prefer the ARB, as 90% of the time I don't need the front locked, and having it lock all the time just led to manymore broken axles.
