Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am under the impression that the bypass to the box, is directly to the left if heading in from Loon and it will take you down Dollar Hill into the end of the box. If this is so, can someone from the Jamboree Office please tell why the cook crews on their annual Fathers day run took it upon themselves to deviate from the trail by going thru the two trees on the far left of the box.
Unfortunately I was unable to catch up with them to redirect them to the trial. :shaking:

I'm not from the Jamboree office but I would guess they took the "Two Trees" route because that has been the de-facto Little Sluice bypass since 1948. It was probably some of those stupid old people . . . You know, the ones with gray hair and all.

Ya, and they used to bleed people with leeches to cure them of various diseases too.

Times change.

I have gray hair and a gray beard and I know which bypass to take.

Little Sl;uice Bypass

The actual bypass to the little sluice is accessed by going up the left side of the sluice and then dropping back down into the sluice just above the big rock piles (at about the point where one going through the sluice would make a right to go up on the slabs. The other bypass goes farther left and avoids the sluice compleatly and brings you out at the camp spot above thousand dollar hill. That bypass goes across a small portion of private property and as such was unofficially put "off limits" to respect the property owners rights. This is the route that the JJ USA uses to get around the Little Sluice, and as some of the principals are also the owners of the property in question, they have every right to do so.

Hey Jeff, how's it going? Gonna be up at the Rubicon July 16th weekend going in Wentworth. You think you'll be up there that weekend?

We're doing Winch Hill 3 at Sierra Trek again this year. You should come and hang out. We're going to have a ton of people. Should be a pa-teee.

(Sorry for the cross post to the Fordyce trail Scott!) :)
